A Halloween Sacramento Has Never Seen: Haunted Free-Roam VR at Nexus Lounge
Nexus Team · · Events
This Halloween, skip the corn maze. Walk freely with your crew through a 6,400 sq ft venue's free-roam VR arena in Haunted, a Halloween experience unlike anything else in the Sacramento, Roseville and Rocklin area. October 30-31, just $5 when you book by 10/24.
Halloween around Sacramento, Roseville and Rocklin usually looks the same every year: a corn maze, a pumpkin patch, a pop-up haunted house with a long line and a costume party or two. They're fun. You also know exactly what to expect. This year, Nexus Lounge & VR is bringing something new to the area: Haunted, a full-body, free-roam virtual reality horror experience you don't just walk past. You walk into it.
A Halloween Experience Unlike Anything Else in the Area
A traditional haunted house moves you down a fixed hallway while actors jump out on cue. Haunted works differently. You and up to seven friends put on a headset, step into our free-roam arena, and suddenly you're standing outside a decaying mansion at midnight. Nothing holds you back: no wires, no standing in one spot, no controller-only movement. Wherever you walk, the haunted world moves with you.
That's what makes this Halloween different. You aren't watching the scare happen to someone at the front of the line. It happens to you, and to your whole group at the same moment, in a shared world where you can hear and see each other the entire time.
Built for Groups, Hosted in a 6,400 Sq Ft Venue
Nexus is one of the largest VR venues in the region, with 6,400 square feet of space for play, food and lounging. Your group gets the arena for its session, and before and after the scares there's a modern lounge, a Bar & Cafe and plenty of room to swap stories about who screamed the loudest.
Meet "Haunted"
Haunted is the newest title in full-body, ultra-immersive VR horror. Explore the mansion as a team, uncover what happened inside, and try to stay together when the lights flicker. It's a great fit for:
- Friend groups who want a Halloween night out that isn't another bar crawl.
- Teens looking for a scare they'll actually talk about at school on Monday.
- Date nights, because there's a reason couples grab each other's arms in horror movies.
- Coworkers who want a quick, memorable team outing during spooky season.

Tips for First-Timers
- Wear comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes. You'll be walking, turning and probably backing away from things.
- Costumes are welcome, but skip big masks, wings or anything bulky that won't fit under a headset.
- Arrive 15 minutes early for check-in and a quick safety briefing from your host.
- Stay with your group. It's scarier alone, and also more fun together.
Quick FAQ
How scary is it? It's built to be tense and full of jump scares, but your group is together the whole time, which makes it thrilling rather than overwhelming for most players.
Is it kid-friendly? Yes, it's family-friendly and open to players aged 10 and up.
How many people can play? Up to 8 players per session.
Will I get motion sick? Because you physically walk everywhere you go, free-roam VR is far more comfortable than sitting-down VR for most people. Read more in our article on VR motion sickness and Zero Latency.
